Heading West is a shifting landscape of color and light inspired by road trip views of mountains during a cross-country drive. The abstract, organic nature of the artwork is however intended to leave the interpretation open to the viewer. Using colored acrylic sheets, the artist layers the material to create deeper and more complex colors in the same way that paint is layered and mixed. Layering the material, Melissa Borrell creates an infinite number of possible colors.
