WAG Project Wins International CODAworx Merit Award
We are thrilled to share that Weingarten Art Group project Carlos Cruz-Diez at the Cistern: Spatial Chromointerference realized for Buffalo Bayou Partnership with the help of Sicardi Ayers Bacino Gallery has received a CODAworx Merit Award in the Public Spaces category. This project was selected from among 435 entries submitted from more than 26 countries around the world. The merit winners exemplify the best of what can happen when artists and design professionals collaborate to create artful spaces in our built environment.
A unique site-specific environment by world-renowned kinetic-optic artist Carlos Cruz-Diez, Spatial Chromointerference created a situation in space involving the dematerialization, transfiguration, and ambiguity of color through movement. Projectors stationed throughout the Cistern filled the space with moving color, and visitors were encouraged to actively participate in the installation by wearing white lab coats or light-colored clothing as they circulated through the space.
