Marcus Mohon Interiors and Weingarten Art Group Curate Kips Bay Show Home Breakfast Keeping Room
Austin and Houston based Interior Designer Marcus Mohon is a strong advocate for the pairing of fine art with elegant design. When he was chosen to participate in the 2020 Kips Bay Designer Show House in Dallas, Texas he reached out to Weingarten Art Group to curate selections that would compliment his graceful and inviting Breakfast Keeping Room. We carefully selected works that offer a subtle palette and textural dimension to key areas of the space and worked with Houston based McClain Gallery to include key pieces from renowned painter Dorothy Hood and sculptor Julia Kunin. Hanging above the mantle is “Bubbles” from emerging superstar Josh Sperling, an unexpected interplay of form and dimension composed of raw canvas stretched over a carved wall-mounted sculpture. Photography by Alec Soth is suspended over drapery in the seating area and a small painting by Toni LaSelle titled “Climate of the Heart” is suspended near doors that lead to a covered patio designed by Tracy Hardenburg.
