“Flower Clouds” by Graphic Rewilding is a joyful, larger-than-life installation at City Place in Spring, TX. Bold, sculptural benches immerse visitors in vivid hand-drawn depictions of more than 25 species of flowers, birds, and insects native to the Texas Gulf Coast. Visitors are invited to sit, unwind, and experience local nature from a fresh and vibrant perspective.
London-based artists Lee Baker and Catherine Borowski – collectively known as Graphic Rewilding – are internationally acclaimed for bringing their nature-inspired public art to urban spaces and created these Flower Clouds specifically for City Place, drawing inspiration from the surrounding wetlands and prairies.
For nature lovers and those eager to discover more, featured flowers include the Texas Bluebonnet, Forget-Me-Not, Texas Bluebell, Torch Lily, Texas Lantana, Purple Coneflower, Southern Blue Flag Iris, Pink Evening Primrose, Shrubby St. John’s Wort, Indian Blanket, and Maximilian Sunflower, among others. Wildlife depicted includes the Blue Dasher Dragonfly, Cloudless Sulphur Butterfly, Monarch Butterfly, American Bumblebee, and Ruby-throated Hummingbird, among others.
Flower Clouds is part of an ongoing series of temporary public art installations curated by Weingarten Art Group for City Place, in partnership with Harris County Improvement District 18 and developer CDC Houston.
