WAG Journeys South of the Border to Zona Maco
One of our great joys in attending art fairs across the globe is in doing just that — traveling across the globe. We gain an insight and understanding of communities, environments and peoples that cannot be matched, no matter how diligently we try, by studies pursued from the comfort of our home. As Mark Twain famously said:
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
And so we are traveling this week, south of the Texas border, to Mexico City for Latin America’s largest international art fair, Zona Maco Mexico Arte Contemporaneo. Inaugurated in 2002, Zona Maco features more than 125 galleries representing contemporary, modern and design. A large number of galleries represented hail from Latin America, but international galleries also have a strong presence, including standouts from New York and Basel.
We’ve collected a few of our favorites from Zona Maco in the gallery below, check out more of our finds here. See something you’re interested in or want to know more about traveling with us to fairs? Get in touch!
