Armory Week: Previewing Art Dealers Association of America

Experiencing Springtime in New York is one of those “bucket list” items. The city resonates with a bright, warm energy. New Yorkers emerge from icy and snow-laden winters to lush green landscapes dotted by robins in Central Park. Open air markets abound and sipping lattes at quaint sidewalk cafes is in fashion again. And of course, there are art fairs and exhibition openings aplenty.

The first official day of Spring might still be a couple weeks away, but we’re already there in spirit and in body. One of the biggest harbingers of Spring in New York is Armory Week — a collection of more than a dozen fairs spread across town — and we’re on the scene, bringing you highlights all week long. First fair up, the Art Dealers Association of America.

Now in its 27th year, the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) fair is a collection of 72 of the nation’s leading galleries, hosted at the Park Avenue Armory. Galleries show curated solo-, two-person and thematic exhibitions. High points from our preview included a series of never-before-shown trial proofs created by Andy Warhol in the 1960s, presented by Susan Sheehan Gallery, as well as a Tsuyoki Maekawa work from the early 1960s, presented by Dominique Levy Gallery.
